During our therapy sessions, we concentrate on core strength, lower limb movements, balance, weight bearing while standing in the standing frame or in the parallel bars. We also work on David’s transfers from his chair on to the bed and other stable surfaces, this is to help with activities of daily living and help improve his quality of life.

Bevan was involved in a hit-and-run bike accident in 2015. He was left in a coma for many months and there seemed to be no hope for him and the extent of his brain injury was uncertain. After a long fight for his life, Bevan came out of his coma and had not realised what had happened to him. He was unaware of his surroundings, did not know who he was and who the people closest to him was.
He began his therapy journey at Rehab Matters in Rivonia and went from strength to strength. He was then referred to Adjustability Therapy Centre where he would come up with a great idea of wanting to walk to Cape town from Johannesburg to raise funds for himself to continue his therapy. Head Biokineticist Justin Jeffery gave an alternative of doing the New York Marathon through Achilles Gauteng. The task of getting Bevan race-ready was managed by Biokineticist Jiten Kunvar. Since Bevan is unable to work, TNT would cover his therapy and since then Bevan has been a TNT beneficiary and ambassador.
With the therapy plan in place and a few training runs set up, Bevan went on to complete his first New York Marathon in 2017. This achievement motivated Bevan to give back to someone else who would want to complete a marathon. He then went on to complete his second New York Marathon in 2018 but he trained someone else with a disability to complete the marathon. Bevan has also written a book called “I’m Possible” and has sold a numerous number of copies over the years and telling his story where he can.
